What Are Snapback and Strapback Hats? | Understand the Differences and How to Wear Them
Whether it's to protect you from the sun or to complete your look, caps are accessories that can perform both functions very well. Nowadays, a variety of them are available for the most diverse tastes, from minimalist ones in basic colors to patterned ones with designs of all sizes and various patterns. Some, bolder, have grommet/spike applications and even acrylic/iron plates with catchy phrases and words.
Like any accessory, caps also come in variations, be they technical or aesthetic. This way, you can find exactly the perfect model for you. The most popular currently are: strapback caps and snapback caps, whether they have curved brims or flat brims.
But what are snapback or strapback caps?
Flat or curved brim strapback caps
Basically, the difference between both models lies in the adjustment, located at the back of the caps. Strapback caps, as the term “strap” suggests, are characterized by having a fabric or leather strap, combined with a clasp (which can be of different types of buckles, usually metallic) that adjusts and adapts to the head.

As for snapback caps, they have a plastic adjustment, where on one side there are holes and on the other "snap pins" that serve to adjust the circumference of the cap. The term "snap" refers to the click you hear when adjusting the cap on the plastic strap of the accessory.

Another notable difference in snap and strapback caps is the styling. Snapback models are usually more rounded, structured, and tend to be deeper. Strapback models, on the other hand, have a slightly flattened design, are unstructured, shallow, and have become popular in recent years under the name dad hat or polo hat caps.
